The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced it will shutdown the Barekese water treatment plant for repair works on the 900mm (36”) transmission line at Breman Ahenfo.
The repair is a result of a damage caused to the transmission line during the construction of a drainage from the Suame roundabout to Breman Ahenfo on July 12, 2024.
In a statement released on Monday, July 22, the GWL said it will shutdown the Barekese Water Treatment Plant on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, to allow engineers work on restoring the transmission line.
The closure as a result is expected to affect areas including Suame, Tafo/Pankrono, Asokwa, Bantama, Sokoban, Kronum, Barekese, Manhyia, Oforikrom, Kwadaso, Atasamanso, Kotwi, Adum, KNUST, Odoum, Asokore Mampong, and surrounding areas.
GWL has therefore advised customers to store enough water ahead of the exercise.
