A/R: Man, 64, slashes 9-year old boy’s wrist over sugarcane

A 64-year-old man at Kotei in the Ashanti region has slashed the left wrist of a 9-year-old with a cutlass over sugarcane.

Robert Quaicoe, the suspect, reportedly saw the victim, Kelvin Oppong and his friends, now at large, harvesting sugarcane in his farm, on July 29, 2025.

The old man chased the young boys from his farm and managed to apprehend Kelvin Oppong. He then slashed the left wrist of the nine-year-old boy with a cutlass.

Francis Adu, who is the father of the victim, upon seeing the injury caused to his son, apprehended the 64-year-old and handed him to the KNUST District Police.

Efforts are underway to get the victim’s friends arrested to assist in investigations.
