A thirty-two (32) year-old Yaw Amoah has been stabbed in the eye by a man in an attempt to stop galamsey activities at Danso in the Bosome Freho District of the Ashanti Region.
An eyewitness in an interview with Kingdom FM said, galamsey activities have been intensified in the Bosome Freho District and in an attempt to stop the menace, the victim led a demonstration.
According to the source, the suspect, Kwabena Boateng from nowhere attacked Yaw Amoah [victim] with a jackknife.
The agitated residents who demonstrated against the act accused the President’s Secretary, Nana Asante Bediatuo and the Chief of the Danso Community, Nana Poku Kyei II and Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP Bernard Antwi Bosiako as those allegedly behind the galamsey activities in the district.
They noted that eleven new excavators have been procured for the illegal mining activities in the community.
The indigenes have strengthened their efforts to halt illegal mining operations in the community.
Adding to their explanations, they accused the District Police Commander and the District Chief Executive Hon. Yaw Danso for refusing to take action against illegal miners in the community.
