Residents and chiefs in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region have expressed disappointment in the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing the party of failing to deliver on its promises in the district.
“The NPP has disappointed the people of Atwima Kwanwoma. Despite being in power, they have done nothing to improve our lives. A vote for the NDC will ensure that the lives of people in the constituency are improved,” the residents said.
Discontent with the NPP’s performance, some aggrieved residents who claim to have voted for the NPP since 1992 are now urging their fellow constituents to give the National Democratic Congress (NDC) a chance to address their needs.
This sentiment was voiced during a clean-up exercise organized by the NDC constituency chairman and the party’s parliamentary candidate.
Madam Grace Asamoah Agyemang, the NDC’s parliamentary candidate, pledged to prioritize essential services such as providing access to clean drinking water, creating jobs, and improving educational infrastructure. “All hope is not lost. I urge you to vote massively for the NDC,” she stated, vowing to lobby for better roads and implement initiatives to support local farmers.
Madam Asamoah also criticized the NPP’s alleged favoritism and promised to ensure that all constituents would have equitable access to opportunities under her leadership.
Highlighting specific achievements of the NDC in the constituency, the constituency chairman, Mr. Simon Alonga, mentioned the construction of a senior high school in the Kwanwoma community and other significant educational advancements. He also noted improvements in healthcare services in the area.
Mr. Alonga expressed confidence that the NDC would unseat the current Member of Parliament, who also serves as the Deputy Defence Minister, Hon. Amankwa Manu, in the upcoming 2024 elections.
