One person has been confirmed dead while dozens have been injured in an accident in Ahafo Ano South East District of the Ashanti Region.
The accident which occurred at a town called Atakrom involves a Sprinter Bus with passengers onboard from Kumasi to Mankranso and its environs.
At a point on the road at Atakrom, the driver lost control of the vehicle after one of its tyres burst.
The car ran into a forest on the roadside, hitting a tree and overturned.
One passenger died on the spot while others were severely injured in the accident.
Three of the injured passengers were sent to Adugyama Hospital and the remaining victims were sent to Mankranso Government hospital for treatment.
The remains of the deceased has been deposited at the Mankranso Government hospital’s morgue for autopsy and preservation.
Police in the Ashanti Region have commenced an investigation into the incident
