One person is feared dead and three others have sustained injuries following a fire explosion at Bogobiri in the Obuasi Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred at a local garage and has been linked to welding activity, according to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

Firefighters swiftly responded to the scene and are actively working to bring the situation under control. The affected area has been cordoned off to ensure public safety.

In an official statement, the GNFS urged residents and motorists to avoid the vicinity and seek alternative routes. “Trust our dedicated firefighters to bring the situation under control. Further updates will be provided shortly,” the statement, shared on Facebook, assured the public.

The injured individuals have been rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment, while investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the explosion.

Authorities are appealing to the public to exercise caution around the area and adhere to safety directives to prevent further incidents.

This tragic event highlights the need for heightened safety measures in areas involving potentially hazardous activities, such as welding. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any potential risks to the appropriate authorities.
