The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a 34-year-old man, Robert Kwabena Boamah, in connection with the gruesome murder of a young woman at Dominase in the Kwadaso Municipality.
The suspect was apprehended on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at his hideout in Namong, near Offinso, following swift police investigations into the incident.
According to a police statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, the arrest follows a distress call received on Monday, April 21, 2025, from residents of the Tanoso Electoral Area, reporting the discovery of a female body near the Mighty Jesus Educational Complex at Dominase.
A team of officers dispatched to the scene found the lifeless body of a young woman later identified by her family as Dorothy Owusu Annor, also known as Maa Abena, aged 23.
“The body was discovered with multiple stab wounds,” the statement said. “At the scene, Police also found an abandoned Opel Astra taxi cab with registration number AS 8575-Y, with its ignition key still in place.”
Preliminary investigations led to the identification of the vehicle’s owner as Robert Kwabena Boamah. He was subsequently traced to his hideout and arrested.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime,” the statement revealed. “He appeared physically weak at the time of arrest, and further questioning uncovered that he had attempted to take his own life by ingesting weedicide.”
Police say Boamah was rushed to the Abuakwa Polyclinic for medical attention and has since been discharged.
The suspect is currently in police custody as efforts are underway to arraign him before court.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to public safety and has assured the public that it will continue to pursue justice for victims of violent crimes.
“We remain resolute in our fight against crime and call on residents to support us with timely information to help maintain law and order in the region,” the statement concluded.
