Three suspected armed robbers have been gunned down by the Police at Buokrom Estate in the Ashanti Region on Thursday, November 4, 2021.
The three, lost their lives at a hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds during a shoot-out with the Police.
A statement signed by the acting Director-General of Police Public Affairs Department, ACP Kwesi Ofori, said a third suspect was also arrested.
“Following the intelligence received that an attack was being planned on a businessman at Buokrom Estate, the Regional Police Anti-robbery Taskforce personnel mounted a search and screening operation of all vehicles entering the estate. During the search, the four suspects who were in a car attempted to fire at the personnel who were undertaking the operation.”
According to the Police, the personnel fired back injuring three of the men who later died from the gunshot wounds at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. One suspect connected to the planned robbery was arrested.
The statement said a pump-action gun, one revolver pistol, one locally manufactured pistol, one dagger, two black hoods, two pairs of scissors and a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis were retrieved by the Police.
