Residents of Apaaso in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region are angry with their chief for using their compound or vicinity as a cemetery for royals (Baamu).

According to these residents, should they stay idle for the chief, Nana Akwasi Agyemang to continue burying dead people (royals) at their sites, an outbreak of different diseases could befall them in no time.

“We all have dug wells (abura) which we drink from them and are nearer to the graves, so we are very much afraid that those dead bodies could decay and liquid substances from the decomposed bodies will form part of our water for us to drink. This is our fear. They said.

One of the residents, Madam. Abigail Mensah who spoke to the media said they have confronted the chief several to resolve the issue, but it yielded no fruit. So what we want from Nana Akwasi Agyemang is to stop burying dead royals there and bury them at the Asaago community cemetery.
