Some residents of Nerebehin in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly of the Ashanti Region are currently living in what could be described as an epidemic waiting to happen.
The residents are dissatisfied with the activities of illegal miners, also known as “galamsey,” who have taken over the Nerebehin Cemetery.
According to sources, illegal miners mined the community cemetery at Nerebehin in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly of the Ashanti Region overnight.
Residents are urging the government, Ghana Health Service, and the Atwima Nwabbiagya South Municipal Assembly to fumigate the community immediately to prevent disease outbreaks.
Nana Tima Agyeku II, Queenmother of Nerebehin in the Ashanti Region’s Atwima Nwabiagya South, has categorically denied allegations that she, along with Bantamahene Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, was involved in the illegal sale of cemetery land to illegal miners.
Nana Tima Agyeku II dispelled these rumours with conviction and determination, stating unequivocally that the recent speculations are false.
She agreed with the residents’ call for immediate fumigation and promised to fumigate the entire community.
