Residents of Goroo in the Afful Nkwanta electoral area in the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly are unhappy about the nature of their roads.
According to the residents, the dusty nature of the roads has given them respiratory problems, whiles some food vendors and drivers in the community say their businesses are collapsing.
A 65-year-old woman selling food by the side of the road who identified herself as Hajia Fati said she was worried about fighting the dust every day.
“For the dust issue, it disturbs me as a food vendor. I have to be cleaning and washing every minute,”
A driver who plies the road regularly also says he is not only tired of battling dust on the road but also concerned with how the road networks have been rendered unmotorable whenever it rains.
“We have to change our vehicles’ shock absorbers every two weeks. The road is having a toll on us”
Alhaji Burger, leader of the community speaking to Silver FM’s Akwadaa Nyame said “drivers fear to use the road when it rains because the main bridge connecting the community is not in good shape and easily gets flooded.”
The residents thus called on appropriate authorities to give a listening ear to their plea and come to their aid to avoid any inconveniences.
