The Airport District Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man, Adam Mohamed, for allegedly dealing in narcotic substances during a targeted operation at Aboabo No.1 in the Ashanti Region.
The arrest, which occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, was part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in the area. According to police sources, the operation followed weeks of intelligence gathering focused on illegal drug distribution networks.
A search conducted at the suspect’s residence uncovered significant quantities of pharmaceutical drugs, including:
35 packs of Tramadol (250mg)
28 packs of Tramadol (120mg)
11 packs of Tramadol (225mg)
Around 50 empty cartons believed to be used for packaging and transporting the drugs.
In addition, officers retrieved GHS 66,950.00 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from the sale of the narcotics. Both the drugs and the money have been secured as evidence to aid further investigations.
The suspect is currently in custody, assisting the police with their inquiries. Authorities say the seized substances are being processed for forensic analysis, and charges will be brought against those found culpable.
In a broader context, the arrest forms part of a larger operation spearheaded by the Regional Police Command in response to a directive from the Interior Minister, Hon. Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak. A recent sweep of Thinka Island led to the arrest of 34 individuals and the seizure of various suspected narcotics and related items.
The police say such operations will continue across the region as part of efforts to combat drug-related crime and ensure public safety.
