Three individuals are believed to be injured in a Violent clash at Adugyama in the Ahafo Ano South East Constituency of the Ashanti Region.

According to reports the incident happened on Saturday May 11, 2024 during the ongoing voter registration exercise in the constituency when NDC party agents prevented the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate from registering some individuals at the centre.

Narrating the incident, the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate for Ahafo Ano South East, Frederick Acheampong said these individuals, including children residing with him in Kumasi and other relatives, were eligible to register in the Constituency.

However, NDC agents were of the view that the said individuals were not from the area and would not be allowed to register.

Mr. Acheampong further revealed that after several engagements with the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate and the Electoral Commission Officer, the children he brought were still prevented from accessing the centre to go through the process but after calm had returned to the centre, a group of armed men wielding sticks, machetes and other offensive weapons stormed the area and began vandalising properties and hitting people in the full glare of police Officers resulting in three individuals being injured.

The three individuals were rushed to the Mankranso Government Hospital where they were treated and discharged.

Meanwhile both parties denied allegations of being behind the violence and called on the police to beef up security at the center.
