The Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Ghana National Fire Service, DOIII Ackah Desmond has stated that, fire fighters in the Region will withdraw their services from the Zongo Communities.
He said, they will not hesitate to take an action if the attacks on fire officers in the aforementioned communities persist.
“We’ll withdraw our service from the Zongo Communities if they keep attacking our men during fire incident in their areas. We’ll not attend to fire outbreak calls from those communities”, DOIII said
Atahire Alahadan, 2 and Salamatu Alahadan, 8 months were burnt to death whiles asleep on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Moshie Zongo in the Ashanti Region.
According to the deceased father, Hafiz Alahadan, the children were asleep whiles he and his wife went out to get daily bread for the family.
The father of Eight (8) disclosed that he heard the disgusting news and run to rescue his children but to no avail. The excessive heat prevented him from entering the room.
Residents attributed the cause of the fire to ECG metre fixed in the house.
Meanwhile, Officers of the Regional Fire Service were prevented from the area by the angry locals over late arrival.
The people chased the fire officers away and tempted to lay hands on them for arriving late.
Recently, Fire Fighters in the region were also attacked by the people of Tafo Zongo over similar fire incident.
Fire Officers were attacked in the process.
This according to the PRO, DOIII Ackah Desmond will not be tolerated henceforth.
He said, any attack on a fire officer in any Zongo Community in the region will compel the Service to totally withdraw their service from all the Zongo Communities.
