Abetifi MP gifts Best Midwife Brand New Car, 2 Others get Gh¢5k each

The Member of Parliament for Kwahu East Constituency, Hon. Bryan Acheampong has promised to gift a brand new car to the best performing midwife in his constituency, as two others take home Gh¢5,000 each.

The Member of Parliament for Kwahu East Constituency, Hon. Bryan Acheampong has promised to gift a brand new car to the best performing midwife in his constituency, as two others take home Gh¢5,000 each.

The MP on Thursday, December 23, organized an awards and dinner night for the health workers in the Kwahu East District.

The event which is the first of its kind was mainly an appraisal and appreciation one for their contribution to the development and health promotion and delivery in the district.

Health enthusiasts from 22 Zonal areas converged at the extravagant and jaw dropping Rock City Hotel in Nkwatia – KWAHU which is owned by the MP, to also appreciate the MPs contribution and support to their day in day out health delivery activities.

Addressing the gathering, the District Health Director, Mr. Murtala Mohammed acknowledged Hon. Bryan Acheampong and thanked him for his efforts and support for the health workers and the service in the district.

He revealed that, the MP in the course of the year, has donated and supplied medical equipment to all facilities in the Kwahu East District.

“To be Frank with you honorable, with the medical equipment and the support you continue to give us, in the year under review, we have not recorded any maternal deaths” he said.

He said, during the Covid period, the MP donated an amount of Gh200, 000 each to all the seven districts under his constituency including the Eastern Regional health directorate.

The eye catching event was thrown into an  emotional and physical tears of joy as the MP also, after  most of the awards were given to its respective awardees mounted the podium and stated his commitment to ensure that health care delivery becomes a priority in his jurisdiction.

One of the awardees who also serves as midwife was crowned the overall best midwife in the district, accompanied by best orderly and a top security officer in the district health centers.

Mr. Kwadwo Osei, a security officer at the Pepease-Kwahu Health Centre was adjudged the best security officer with a cash prize of GH¢1, 000 and a 32 inch Television.

The overall best award was adjudged to Madam Joycelyn Boampong who was given a double decker fridge and a Gh¢1,000.  Madam Cecelia at the Nkwatia-Kwahu Health Centre was also adjudged the best orderly with a cash prize of Gh¢1,500 and a 32 inch Television.

The MP, affirming his commitment to health delivery said, for 12 months, no single maternal death has been recorded.

He said aside the health physicians and the midwives, there is no doctor in the 150,000 populated constituency, and that if the senior midwife of the Kwahu East District has been able to represent her colleagues and has not recorded any maternal deaths, she deserves to be rewarded.

“Apart from the physicians we have, we have no doctor. Out of 150,000 there’s no doctor. Madam Joycelyn Boampong, if you have been able to stand up and no maternal deaths has been recorded, before this year ends, I will buy you a car”.

“Furthermore, Mr. Kwadwo Osei, for protecting Pepease-Kwahu Health Centre and its equipment, I will credit you Gh¢5,000 and madam Cecelia, you will also be given Gh¢5,000”

Madam Joycelyn Boampong, in her vote of thanks, acknowledged Hon. Bryan Acheampong for his commitment and encouragement for health care delivery in the district.

“Help me thank Hon. Bryan Acheampong for this splendid gesture, this unbelievable and we assure him that, we will do our best to ensure that his vision and support doesn’t go in vain”

According to Hon. Bryan Acheampong, the District Health Directorate has been able to vaccinate 30,000 people, though, it still have a long way to drive up.

The MP, also said, out of the 22 Zonal areas, 10 motorbikes will be presented 24th December, 2021 whiles it looks forward to present the additional 12 before the year ends.

Meanwhile, a joint event was initially held for security operatives in the district whiles plans are under way to also reward teachers in the district tonight.
