An aspiring Chairman for the Abirem Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Frank Owusu Amoah, otherwise know as ‘Bravo’, has launched a soft loan initiative dubbed ‘Dwetre Nketewa’ to support small-scale traders and artisans in the constituency.
The initiative, which was launched at New Abirem on Sunday, September 6, is aimed at empowering market women, hairdressers, tailors, barbers, and other small business owners who struggle to access capital from traditional banks.
Under the scheme, beneficiaries will receive interest-free loans ranging from GHC 1,000 to GHC 5,000 to expand their businesses, with flexible repayment terms of five months.

Speaking at the launch, Mr Owusu Amoah said the initiative is his personal contribution to complement the government’s effort at improving livelihoods and fulfilling the NDC’s promise of women and youth empowerment.
“I know the struggles our mothers and youth go through to get small capital to start or expand their business. The banks will ask for collateral they don’t have. So I decided to come out with Dwetre Nketewa, small loan but it will make big difference in their lives,” he explained.
He said 120 traders have been registered as first batch beneficiaries across communities including New Abirem, Afosu, etc.
He stated that the initiative is purposely crafted and will benefit all traders affiliated to the NDC, adding that a team has been put in place to monitor and provide business advisory support to beneficiaries to ensure repayment.
Some market women who received their loans at the launch commended him for the kind gesture and promised to pay back on time for others to also benefit.
The Deputy National Welfare Director for the NDC, Kwame Atta Mudzi, who graced the occasion, praised the aspiring Chairman for the initiative and described it as timely and life-changing.
He urged other aspirants and party members to emulate such practical interventions that directly impact the lives of the grassroots.
Present at the launch were branch executives, opinion leaders, former Abirem NDC Parliamentary candidate and traders linked to the NDC from across the constituency.
