Ablakwa gifts laptops to 36 rural teachers in North Tongu

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, as part of efforts to enhance teaching and learning in rural areas, has donated laptop computers to 36 newly posted teachers stationed in remote parts of his constituency.

The donation, made over the weekend, is part of a longstanding initiative by the MP to support educators who accept postings to underserved and hard-to-reach communities.

“This is more than just a donation—it’s a message to our teachers that their sacrifices are seen, valued, and appreciated,” Mr. Ablakwa stated during a brief ceremony. “In North Tongu, it has become a tradition to present laptops to every teacher who takes up the challenge to serve in our rural schools.”

The MP emphasized that access to digital tools is essential in modern education, especially in remote areas where teaching resources are often scarce.

He added that the laptops are intended to enhance lesson preparation, access to digital learning materials, and communication.

Beyond the laptop donations, Mr. Ablakwa announced plans to roll out additional teacher-focused interventions, including periodic professional development training, scholarship packages for further studies, and performance-based award schemes.

“These initiatives are designed to make rural postings more attractive, improve retention rates, and most importantly, uplift the standard of education across North Tongu,” he noted.

Local education authorities and beneficiary teachers expressed gratitude for the MP’s consistent support, describing the gesture as both timely and motivating.

One of the beneficiaries, Madam Patience Dzifa, who was recently posted to a school in Volo, said: “This laptop will make a huge difference in how I prepare and deliver my lessons. It’s good to know that our work is recognized.”
