Several individuals dressed in brown uniforms and posing as security personnel were arrested near the Awoshie DVLA polling station in the Ablekuma North Constituency during the ongoing parliamentary election re-run.
Reports from Citi News indicate that the individuals failed to properly identify themselves when questioned by officers on duty. This led to their immediate arrest and transfer to the Odorkor Police Station for further investigation.
The suspects were found near the polling station entrance, and their lack of valid identification raised concerns among the security personnel ensuring order at the voting center.
John Desmond Nii Sowah Nai, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga West and Dean of MMDCEs in the Greater Accra Region, confirmed the arrests. He noted that the police suspect the individuals may not belong to any official state security agency.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the true identities of the suspects and their possible motives.
