Abronye warns NPP MPs over Kennedy Agyapong

The ongoing tensions within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) escalated this week as Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe Abronye has slammed the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central and Flag bearer hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

Speaking on the Wontumi TV Talk Time Show, Abronye did not hold back, labeling Agyapong as “evil,” “devil,” and “dishonorable,” while accusing him of being “wizard, mad, sycophant, and greedy.”

The verbal assault follows a series of public exchanges between the two NPP figures during the party’s Thank you tour, highlighting deep divisions within the party ranks.

Abronye’s remarks reflect growing frustration among some party members over Agyapong’s outspoken and often controversial style.

In the interview, Abronye criticized Agyapong’s attitude, describing him as “cheerless” and disrespectful.

He issued a stern warning to all 88 NPP Members of Parliament about declaring support for the rich man (Kennedy Agyapong) and announced plans to establish a ‘poverty association’ across all constituencies.

Abronye stated “To all the 88 MPs in Parliament: it is the poor people who sent you there. I warn you not to follow that rich man, because afterwards he will tell you that your constituencies are impoverished. He’s the one who has the money, so he feels he needs to speak. Go ahead and follow him, but when the time comes, you will hear from us.”

According to Abronye, this group will represent the interests of the poor majority who, he argued, are the true backbone of the party’s electoral success.

We are going to form poor people association in every constituency, I have money in NPP is too much”, he emphasized.

“Every constituency will have poverty people to have a voice,” Abronye declared. “It’s time the poor people start to talk because it’s the poor people that vote.”

He further threatened to personally visit constituencies to confront MPs who align with Agyapong, promising to “damage” their political standing.

“When the time comes, I’ll storm your constituency, and when I arrive, you will see your smoothness level. I’ll come to your constituency-every part of Ghana knows me, Abronye and I’ll come to damage you there. I won’t hide it”, he declared.

“This Poor People’s Association is coming to take over the NPP and bring the party back to power in 2028. Mark my words”, Abronye was convinced in his words.

Abronye recounted several instances where Agyapong publicly disparaged fellow NPP members, including Nana Akomea, Naa Torshie, and the late Chairman Kutin.

He recounted “NPP people, we are tired of Kennedy Agyapong. Anyone who disagrees with him and fights him faces backlash. When he had issues with Nana Akomea, Kennedy Agyapong said he fed Nana Akomea. When he had issues with Naa Torshie, he said Naa Torshie’s underwear is big and that he was the one taking care of her. When Kennedy Agyapong had issues with Yaw Adomako Baafi, he described him as an impoverished person. Kennedy Agyapong did not speak to the late Chairman Kutin because he didn’t support him and instead supported Bawumia. That is Kennedy Agyapong”.

He accused Agyapong of sowing discord by belittling colleagues who did not support his preferred candidates or positions.

Again, on the controversy involving Kennedy Agyapong and Minister Hawa Koomson, Abronye claimed that Agyapong disparaged Koomson as an “impoverished teacher.”

“Regarding the Kennedy Agyapong and Hawa Koomson issue, Kennedy Agyapong described her as an impoverished teacher. If he had not gone to Akufo-Addo and requested a position for her, there is no way she would have been given that position, which means Akufo-Addo doesn’t know what he was doing.”

Abronye dared and questioned Kennedy Agyapong to mention any benefits he had received from the party after taking care of everyone and financing the party.

He stressed “In the NPP, he has bought food for everyone and has financed the party more than anyone else. I’m asking this question: every day he has financed the party, have you ever heard Kennedy Agyapong say what he got from the NPP before? Have you heard him say such a thing before?

“It demonstrates how evil and devilish he is. If you want someone who is a wizard, stupid, mad, sycophant, and greedy, he is number one. He is a dishonorable person”, he added
