A team of Police Officers from the National Police Operations Department have arrested 230 suspected criminals at the Soldier Bar in Adabraka, a suburb of Accra for engaging in various criminal activities including drug peddling and trafficking.
The operation took place last Thursday, 15th April 2021 as a swoop based on Police intelligence.
Some items were also retrieved from the suspects. These included unregistered motorbikes, wrappers of dried leaves believed to be indian hemps, assorted mobile phones, wrist watches and a Cameroonian passport.
The suspected criminals’ arrest comes after recent rise in crime activities resulting in several deaths.
According to research, violent crime is on the rise, including armed robberies in expatriate residential areas. Nationwide, violent crime results in more than 500 deaths per year. Criminals frequently carry weapons; the most prevalent are locally manufactured pistols, rifles, and shotguns.
