The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has initiated disciplinary action against former Dome Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, for comments she made in the media, which the party says violate internal directives.

A formal notice issued by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, states that Adwoa Safo’s remarks on Joy News’ Pulse Show contravened a directive instructing all NPP members to refrain from public discussions that could create disaffection within the party.

The party emphasized that its directive clearly prohibited members from discussing issues that could cause unrest, negativity, or internal division.

By ignoring this directive, Adwoa Safo is accused of undermining the party’s efforts to rebuild and move forward after the 2024 elections.

As a former Member of Parliament, Deputy Majority Leader, and Minister of State, Adwoa Safo was expected to uphold the party’s core values of discipline, loyalty, and unity.

However, the NPP argues that her actions not only reflect poorly on her but also violate Article 3(5) of the party’s constitution, which mandates members to promote and defend the party’s good name.

In response to these alleged breaches, the party has referred Adwoa Safo to its National Disciplinary Committee for further action.

This development adds to the ongoing internal tensions within the NPP as the party navigates its post-2024 election challenges.
