The Member of Parliament for Mpraeso Constituency in the Eastern Region, Mr Davis Ansah Opoku (OPK) has added his voice to the political and social commentators who have called for the resignation of the embattled Dome-Kwabenya Legislator.

According to the legislator, Adwoa Safo must be sincere and come clean with the people she represents.

He noted the hard-to-crack former Gender minister must be sincere because her constituents deserve representation in Ghana’s Parliament.

“Adwoa Safo must be sincere with the people of Kwabenya. They deserve representation in Parliament. Today, one of the topics is the Lolobi – Akorfu, because they do not have a representation in the Parliament. Representation is key to the extent that, in recent Supreme Court ruling in respect to whether 1st and 2nd deputy speakers can vote or not when they’re presiding, the Supreme Court emphasized that people must be represented”, he said while speaking on Republic FM’s morning show on Monday, August 1.

Mr Davis Ansah Opoku urged Adwoa Safo to tender her resignation letter if she wants to discontinue her duties as the MP for Kwabenya.

He noted that Adwoa Safo’s behaviour is an attempt to spite the government and that it will be reasonable to declare her seat vacant.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has in accordance with article 81 (a) of the 1992 Constitution terminated the appointment of the Dome-Kwabenya Legislator, Sarah Adwoa Safo as the Minister in charge of Gender, Children and Social Protection on Thursday, July 28.

According to a release signed by the Presidency’s Director of Communications, Mr Eugene Arhin, Madam Cecelia Abena Dapaah, the Minister of Sanitation and Water resources is expected to continue to occupy the Gender ministry’s ministerial position until the President appoints a substantive replacement.
