The Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo has failed to appear before Parliament’s Privileges Committee to answer questions on why she has been absenting herself from proceedings of the House.
The lawmaker’s failure to attend parliamentary proceedings was referred to the Committee by Speaker Alban Bagbin for the necessary action. Two other NPP MPs, Kennedy Agyepong and Henry Quartey were also referred to the Committee for similar reasons.
After earlier efforts to serve an invitation to appear before the Committee on Adwoa Safo failed, the Committee published her invitation in the national dailies.
Hon. Sara Adwoa Safo was scheduled to appear before the Committee but failed to appear, despite various attempts to get her to appear before the Committee.
Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central and Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 appeared before the Privileges Committee, to respond to queries on his absence from Parliament without permission for fifteen sitting days in the First Meeting of the Second Session of the 8th Parliament.
He explained that his absence from the country was to enable him to undergo a knee surgery.
Hon. Kennedy Agyapong was also referred to the Committee for similar reasons. Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has already appeared before the Committee to respond to queries on his absence from Parliamentary proceedings.
