Osman Bukari’s 72nd-minute equalizer earned Ghana a point against Angola in the second-leg tie of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Black Stars travelled away to Angola after they beat the Palancas Negras 1-0 last week Thursday in Kumasi, with coach Chris Hughton making four changes to the team that started in Ghana.
Playing at home, the Angolans were hoping to overturn the results to give them any hope of qualifying for the 2023 AFCON.
The Black Stars came under intense pressure in the first 45 minutes of the game, but were solid defensively, as the first half ended goalless.
The second half was no different for the Black Stars, as Angola continued to mount pressure in search of their first goal, and scored just five minutes into the start after Ghana’s centre-back Daniel Amartey brought down Gelson Dala in the penalty box.
Meanwhile, Chris Hughton responded by bringing on fresh legs, which resulted in the equalizer.
Substitutes Inaki Williams, Joseph Painstil and Osman Bukari combined to beautifully weave through the Angolan defense to give Ghana the equalizer.
The results mean Ghana remains on top of group E with 8 points after four games, while Angola is third with 5 points.
