AFCON 2023: The ultimate goal for us is to win the trophy – Mohammed Kudus

He emphasised that the reason behind Henry Quartey's attempt is to intimidate and harass delegates perceived as supporters of his candidature on the voting day, scheduled for January 27.

Black Stars midfielder, Mohammed Kudus, has emphasized that Ghana’s main target in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast is to lift the trophy.

The 23-year-old was on target for Ghana on Thursday night when Ghana and Egypt clashed in a fierce Group B encounter.

Speaking after the match, the West Ham keyman explained that they are taking the necessary steps towards winning the trophy by focusing on one game at a time.

“The ultimate goal is to lift the trophy but the sub-goal is to get out of the group so the focus is on one game at a time. As I said the ultimate goal is to win the trophy, that’s the aim we came here with but we can’t look far ahead than us so we just need to take it one game at a time. Like we finished today, the next focus is on getting the three points the next game and that’s the focus every single game until we bring the trophy home,” he said.

Ghana, after two games, lies at the bottom of Group B with just one point and is set to face Mozambique in their last group game on Monday.
