Head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton has expressed disappointment in how the Black Stars got defeated by Cape Verde in their opening Group match in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) ON Sunday evening in Abidjan.
Chris Hughton’s men conceded a late goal to allow Cape Verde earn all three points in a game which appeared to be heading into a draw.
Speaking in his post match press conference, the 65-year-old indicated that they had a game plan but things did not go as planned.
“We came into the game with a game plan, we changed the way of play in the system a bit so that we could start on the front foot. We are hugely disappointed with the results and I know this group of players also know how the Ghanaian people see this game and tournament, and our expectations going into this one and is one that i will say is a defeat that we are hugely disappointed,” he stated.
The defeat to Cape Verde means Ghana is now bottom of the Group B table with no point and will play Egypt in their second game on Thursday.
