Black Stars forward, Jordan Ayew has stressed that he and his teammates consider the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be extremely significant.
The 32-year-old said this during Ghana’s pre-match press conference on Wednesday ahead of their game against.
Responding to claims that the Black Stars players lack commitment, he explained that squad is ever ready to fight for the country in this tournament in order to progress to the next stage.
“We need to do more, that’s for sure. We are ready to do more, we know the game against Egypt is a big game and we know how much it means to Ghanaians and for us as well, we want to perform in this tournament. We didn’t just come here just to visit Abidjan. We are here to perform well so, we are ready and I wouldn’t agree when people say we lack commitment. No, everyone is fully committed just that sometimes things don’t go your way,” he said.
Ghana’s opening AFCON match ended in a loss to Cape Verde and that means Ghana’s chances of progressing to the next stage of the competition will depend on beating Egypt.
