The Afi Antonio Foundation has paid the medical bills of a new mother at the 37 Military Hospital, paving the way for her to be discharged.
This gesture was part of the foundation’s core responsibility of supporting vulnerable mothers and autistic children in society.
According to Philomina Esinam Anthonio, founder of the Afi Antonio Foundation, her initial decision was to pay for five women to be discharged, but upon consultation with medical officers, a new mother who had stayed in the maternity ward for a long time and had her baby put in an incubator, owing above Ghs4,000, was bailed out.
In addition to the medical bills for the new mother, the foundation also paid for the baby who was kept in the incubator for a week.
“I went to 37 Military Hospital to pay outstanding bills for first-time mothers who have been discharged but owing. I was told there were 2 women in need of help. Both were called and asked to come to the hospital the following day because someone wanted to pay their bills.
Medical personnel at the 37 Military Hospital thanked the foundation for supporting the new mother. The mother of the new baby was grateful to the Afi Antonio Foundation for coming to their aid.
