Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu has said it is too early for him to predict when the Agenda 111 project, a project initiated by the Akufo-Addo administration to build hospitals across the country, will be completed.

He revealed that there are some challenges facing the project especially in Accra and Kumasi.

“It is too early for me to predict whether we will finish or not. But optimistically, that is what we want to do and we try to push ourselves.

“We still have challenges with even land especially in the big cities like Accra and Kumasi. We are now changing the infrastructural design so that instead of spreading across bigger land area we want to go up. So they are doing designs.

“Even in the communities, in the districts, some chiefs are coming and there are litigation in some areas,” the Dormaa Central lawmaker said while taking delivery of some medical supplies from the Italian government on Thursday May 5.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo earlier said he was determined to complete the project before he exits office on January 7, 2025.

Mr Akufo-Addo said the project forms part of his government’s efforts to improve Ghana’s healthcare sector.

Speaking at the 60 years celebration of the University of Ghana Medical School in Accra on Friday March 25, Mr Akufo-Addo said “good health is fundamental to all we do. It is the reason access to quality healthcare is a right that is enshrined in the constitution, he added.
