Agrico Hub, a Bono East-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), has announced a free training program in modern agriculture using technology.
This initiative is expected to tackle youth unemployment and drive economic development.
Dubbed the A-TVET (Agricultural Technical and Vocational Education and Training) Program, the initiative aims to equip hundreds of young Ghanaians with practical agricultural skills.
Despite Ghana’s vast fertile lands and abundant natural resources, youth unemployment remains a major challenge due to the heavy reliance on white-collar jobs. Agrico Hub’s A-TVET program seeks to change this narrative by empowering young people with hands-on training in modern agricultural practices.
Speaking at a Stakeholders Consultative Meeting in Techiman, themed “The Role of A-TVET in Transforming the Local Economy for Job Creation and Economic Development,” the Chief Executive Officer of Agrico Hub, Mr. George Antwi Boasiako, emphasized that the program is entirely free.
Participants will receive free accommodation, a monthly allowance, and a professional TVET certificate upon completion of the training.
Mr. Boasiako expressed his gratitude to the World University Service of Canada and the MasterCard Foundation for sponsoring the initiative.
He also called on the government and private sector to support the program, urging young Ghanaians to take advantage of this opportunity by applying at the Agrico Hub office in Techiman.
This initiative is expected to not only address unemployment but also contribute to Ghana’s agricultural transformation by equipping the youth with essential skills to build sustainable livelihoods.
