The Ahafo Regional Minister-designate, Hon. George Yaw Boakye has hinted his intention of prioritising the tourism sector as an avenue for development in the Ahafo region.
Speaking during his vetting by the Parliament’s appointment committee, Hon. George Yaw Boakye revealed his plans to revamp the Mim Mountain, which is famous for being one of the biggest rocks in Africa.
He disclosed that when given the nod, he will pursue the Ghana Tourism Authority to help in the redevelopment of the site for use.
“The Ahafo Region has a lot of potentials, among its potentials is tourism. I have three sites in mind; they are the Kyenkyensibuorso, Komfo Anokye Tree and Mim Buor. With the Mim Buor, my predecessor said some feasibility studies was done on it. When given the nod, I will talk with the Ghana Tourism Authority to see how we can develop the site for use.” George Yaw Boakye said
Also responding to questions about his plans for the region, Mr. George Yaw Boakye, said, one thing he would love to be remembered for is ‘uniting the front of Ahafo and ending political violence in the region.’
He promised that he would liaise with the Members of Parliaments, both NDC and NPP, in the region to work together in the supreme interest of Ahafo.
Mr. George Yaw Boakye said together with the Omanhene of his hometown (Sankore), Ogyedom Appiah Kubi and his major political contender, Hon. Eric Opoku, peace trail is being embarked to see the development of the Asunafo South and the entire region as a whole.
