Health Minister, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has ordered a comprehensive audit of all public health facilities in the Oti Region as part of renewed efforts to tighten oversight and improve healthcare delivery.

The directive instructs the Ministry’s Technical Advisor, Dr. Korku Awoonor, to constitute a technical working group to assess the structural integrity, operational capacity and overall productivity of health facilities across the region. The findings are expected to inform targeted interventions to strengthen service delivery and safeguard patient safety.

The order was issued during a two-day Ministry of Health management retreat and forms part of government’s broader agenda to ensure public health facilities nationwide meet approved safety, quality and performance standards.

In a parallel move to improve patient care, the Health Minister has also directed the introduction of 24-hour cleaning services in all public hospitals across the country. The policy is aimed at improving hygiene, strengthening infection prevention and control measures, and creating safer, more patient-friendly healthcare environments.

The Ministry says the audit and the nationwide cleaning initiative underscore its commitment to raising standards in the health sector through proactive supervision, improved facility management and sustained investment in quality healthcare delivery.
