The Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr. Kwasi Amoako-Atta, has given full assurance that the President Akufo-Addo-led administration has put forward precautionary measures to prevent the Sogakope Bridge from collapsing after the life-threatening spillage of the Akosombo Dam.

The Minister, after examining the impending predicament that can befall the bridge, said that even though the situation is not intense, all precautionary steps must be taken to prevent water from hitting the surface of the bottom of the bridge.

After leading a team of engineers from the Ministry of Roads and Highways and its agencies to inspect the bridge yesterday at Sogakope, in the Volta Region, Amoako-Atta assured the inhabitants that the government was ready to protect the bridge from collapse.

He added that the ministry has accumulated money of GHc5 million that has been earmarked to rehabilitate the roads likely affected by the spillage.

This move comes in response to the recent spillage of the Akosombo Dam, which has resulted in flooding that has hit over one hundred communities across five constituencies in the Volta Region.

This unfortunate incident has left numerous residents of North Tongu, Central Tongu, South Tongu, Keta, and Anlo Constituencies homeless and in urgent need of aid before the unfortunate thing blows a lot of dimension into their lives.
