Akosua Serwaa, the ‘acclaimed’ first wife of the late Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has filed a notice of appeal challenging the judgment delivered by the Kumasi High Court on November 28, 2025, describing the ruling as unfair and unjust.
In court documents that have surfaced online, Madam Akosua Serwaa, indicated her dissatisfaction with the High Court’s decision, which dismissed key pieces of evidence she presented in support of her claim.
According to her, the court wrongfully rejected her marriage certificate, tendered as exhibits B, B1 and B2, despite their relevance to the case.
The notice of appeal, filed at the Court of Appeal in Kumasi, states that the trial judge erred in law by holding that the marriage certificate was not admissible per se and by insisting that Section 161 of the Evidence Act was a condition precedent before weight could be placed on the admitted document.
She further argued that the court wrongly found the defendants’ evidence to be more credible than hers.
Madam Akosua Serwaa is seeking an order from the Court of Appeal to set aside the entire judgment of the Kumasi High Court and to enter judgment in her favour.
The appeal directly affects several parties listed in the court documents, including Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni (Daddy Lumba’s second wife), and Transitions Funeral Home, also known as Enterprise Funeral Services, based at Abrepo Junction, Accra.
Legal observers note that the appeal could significantly impact the ongoing legal and family disputes surrounding the estate and marital status of the late music icon, whose personal life has remained a subject of public interest even after his passing.
