The Regent of Akrofuom, Nana Anim Agyekum II, has pledged the full support of his people to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Dr. Bawumia visited the Akrofuom Constituency on Tuesday morning as part of his ongoing Ashanti Regional tour. During his visit, he engaged with stakeholders in the area to share his vision for the country, emphasizing his plans for continued national development.
In a warm welcome to Dr. Bawumia on behalf of the Chiefs and people of Akrofuom, Nana Anim Agyekum II praised President Akufo-Addo and the NPP for their significant contributions to the development of the region.
The Chief specifically highlighted the construction of a large market for the community’s petty traders, which he noted was among several transformative projects initiated by the government.
“Here our main job is petty trading and we needed a good market for our traders. Now we have a very big market, among other projects,” said Nana Anim Agyekum. He also expressed his appreciation for the District Chief Executive and the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, acknowledging their commitment to the area’s progress.
As he pledged the support of the Akrofuom community, Nana Anim Agyekum II referred to Dr. Bawumia as a “future leader” and assured him of their unwavering backing.
He also requested that Dr. Bawumia convey their gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for his continued support of the region.
“Future leader, please I want to request that you extend our gratitude to President Akufo-Addo. Tell him that when you came here, the people of Akrofuom said they are very grateful to him,” the Chief added.
Nana Anim Agyekum II also offered words of encouragement to Dr. Bawumia, praising his wisdom and urging him to remain steadfast as he pursues his presidential ambitions. “As you are coming, stay resolute for God has blessed you with wisdom and bravery,” he said.
“The way Ghanaians have accepted you, we have also joined them to embrace you. We have taken you as our son because we know you will not disappoint us.”
The Chief further commended the government for sending District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) machines to the area and urged the local district authorities to accelerate the upgrading of several roads in the region.
In response, Dr. Bawumia assured the Chiefs and people of Akrofuom that he would continue to prioritize the needs of the community if given the mandate.
He emphasized the importance of accountability in leadership, stating that once supported, he would be more accountable to the people, as he would need to return for re-election.
“Unlike my opponent, who will not seek re-election, I will have to come back to seek your approval,” Dr. Bawumia stated, highlighting his commitment to transparent and responsive leadership.
Dr. Bawumia’s visit to Akrofuom reaffirmed his dedication to the region and strengthened his ongoing engagement with local communities as part of his presidential campaign
