A leading legal team member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe has hit hard at the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia led administration for their mismanagement of the Ghanaian Economy.
His comments comes few days after the President of the Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo ordered the Finance minister Ken Ofori Atta to begin a formal arrangement between the government and the Breton Woods Institution to assist the country in an economic downturn.
Speaking to Kwame Koranteng on Republic FM, Tuesday, July 5, on the injunction the Minority filed against the implementation of the controversial E-levy bill, Edudzi Tamakloe accused the government of being an indecisive and a pride administration which does not have a listening ear for anyone.
“With the suit sent to court against the e-levy bill, the court only dealt with the injunction, the substantive matter is still in court and we will go back to court on 12 July on the substantive matter but the truth is that, what we all need to know is that, the Akufo-Addo – Bawumia led Govt is full of pride, arrogance and indecisiveness”,
According to the legal team counsel, no government has ever accumulated so much revenue than the Akufo-Addo govt under the 4th Republic of Ghana. He stated that the Govt has made much revenue from loans, grants and other financial revenues amounting to excess of Gh¢500 billion. He argued that the NDC made a little over Gh¢247 billion which is nowhere compared to the Mills – Mahama – Amissah Arthur administration In 8 years.
“Why am I saying this? Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Bawumia and Ken Ofori Atta‘s government has made money than any administration under the 4th Republic than this government. Ranging from loans, grants and tax revenues have amounted to over Gh¢500 billion. In 8 years, Mills – Mahama and Amissah Arthur administration got Gh¢247 billion which is nowhere near what we got in 8 years”, he told Kwame Koranteng.
Ghana’s debt to GDP ratio by December 2016 was Gh¢132billion, it is now in excess of Over Gh¢400 billion minors synohydro’s $600 million out of the $2billion agreed terms which was not included in the Public debt.
According to Mr. Tamakloe, President Akufo-Addo has destroyed the shores and all of the 4 corners of the entire country.
President Akufo-Addo on Friday, July 1 ordered the Finance minister Ken Ofori Atta to begin a formal arrangement with the International Monetary Fund to seek financial and economic bailout from the Breton Woods Institution.
