President Akuffo-Addo is expected to commission the reconstruction of Asomdwee Park by July 2022.

The reconstructed Asomdwee Park comes with a mini museum, an audio-visual library with free Wifi, a conference room, restaurant and a ceremonial ground with a statue of president Mills.

“Truth be told, nobody can run away from the fact that when president Mills passed, it was the NDC administration that remained for four and half years and it wasn’t done”. Koku Anyidoho said

At a tour of progress of work on the construction of the Asomdwee Park, the administrator of the Atta-Mills Institute, Mr. Koku Anyidoho expressed gratitude to the Akufo-Addo administration for reconstructing the Asomdwee Park in honor of President Mills.

“I am not glorifying a dead body; I am talking about a state monument that befits our only president that passed on while in office and it is an opportunity for Ghanaians to come and learn about Ghana’s history and what president Mills stood for”. – Kuko Anyidoho

Mr. Koku Anyidoho however was worried about the previous administration’s lack of commitment to giving former president Mills a befitting place of burial.

According to Koku Anyidoho, the current Asomdwee Park was not planned because there was a rush to put the former president to rest after which a befitting place will be built however, “there was a master plan to ensure that Asomdwee Park will be built into a proper befitting state monument which was never done”.

“The Architectural and engineering services did the master design somehow 2013 it didn’t happen, 2014 it didn’t happen, 2015 it didn’t happen 2017, 2018 and 2019 it didn’t happen until last year through prayers and begging, weeping, thankfully something touched the heart of the current administration led by His excellency president Akufo-Addo and so he gave the go ahead through the Costal Development Authority (CODA) to give a commitment to construct Asomdwee park to give its original Architectural design with modification”.

The reconstruction work is on-going with workers on site at the time of visit. It is expected that on the 10th anniversary of the passing away of president Mills.

“His excellency president Akufo-Addo will come and commission what will be one of the greatest living lasting legacies of his own administration which will stand tall in the name of Ghana”. Mr. Anyidoho asserted

He further revealed that “I am tired of the deception, we can’t continue like this, let  Ghanaians know the true state of Asomdwee park and let us all hope and believe that next year by this time we will be commissioning a well-built befitting edifice so we don’t deceive Ghanaians any longer”.
