Akufo-Addo to cut sod for Accra-Tema motorway expansion project

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is set to cut sod for the rehabilitation and expansion of the Accra-Tema motorway.

This groundbreaking event, scheduled for Monday, August 26 2024, will also be attended by the Minister of Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso-Boakye, and Finance Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, among others.

With intensified calls for the expansion project which according to Ghanaians and various stakeholders will be a significant boost for road infrastructure in the country, the government has secured a $338 million loan for the project.

This investment will not only expand the current motorway into 10 lanes but also include 8 interchanges and various sections of the tunnel.

The motorway project is part of a broader initiative to modernize Ghana’s road network, which includes the ongoing construction of the Tema Motorway Roundabout Phase 2.

The project estimated to be completed within 36 months is set to span a concession period of 30 years. infrastructure project.
