The Majority Leader of Parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has announced that President Akufo-Addo will deliver the State of the Nations address (SONA) on Tuesday, February 27.
He made this declaration during the resumption of sitting for Members of Parliament on Tuesday.
“Mr. Speaker, in accordance with Article 67 of the Constitution, H.E. the President will deliver to the house a message on the State of the Nation on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Honourable Members are entreated to avail themselves for the task ahead”, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu stated.
In accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, the President is mandated to deliver an opening message on the state of the nation to begin the very first session and before the dissolution of Parliament.
However, the president’s address to parliament will cover the achievements and challenges of the government, as well as the trajectory for the nation’s progress in the coming year.
