The Elders of the Akwanor Royal Family of Ashalaja on Friday May 6, 2022, performed customary rites to outdoor the newly installed family head, Mr. Ismaila Nii Armah Quansah at a colourful event held in Accra.
The new family head takes over from Mr. Solomon Mintah Ackaah, who was destooled due to gross disrespect and failure to honour invitation to discuss the burial and final funeral rite of the late Nii Akwanor III who died seven years ago.
Speaking at a press conference, the principal elders of the Akwanor Royal Family, Major Rtd J. K Addey, said the family passed a resolution on September 2, 2022 to remove the former head of family and installed Mr. Quansah.
Major Addey said, immediately the family appointed a new head, Mr. Ackaah, the former head of family instituted an interlocutory injunction at the high Court to stop Mr. Quansah from holding himself as such.
But the high court in it ruling on March 24, 2022, dismissed the application and awarded cost against the plaintiff.
“We are by this press conference informing the general public, Ghana Police Service, Land Commission and land developers on Ashalaja lands that Mr. Ackaah ceased to be head of family and anybody who does business with him does so at their own risk,” he stated.
“We wish to inform people who have already bought lands with the former head of family and new customers to report to the new head of family for update and the necessary corrections to be made.”
Speaking to the media at the sideline, the new family head, Mr. Quansah promised to stop land guard activities in the area adding that the family had already met with the police about the issue.
He again assured land developers of their peace of mind to build as the family has taken the necessary steps to deal with land guards issues.
