The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Region staged a Unity Walk in Akwatia on Sunday, August 17, 2025, to demonstrate solidarity and reaffirm its support for its parliamentary candidate, Solomon Kwame Asumadu.  The event, led by Eastern Regional Chairman, Jeff Konadu Addo and regional executives, drew thousands of party supporters. They were joined by National Youth Organiser, Salam Mustapha, constituency executives, electoral area coordinators, polling station executives, and grassroots members.

The atmosphere was charged with chants, placards, and music as participants marched through the principal streets of Akwatia.

Organisers described the turnout as a clear sign of the party’s preparedness for the upcoming by-election on September 2.

The by-election in Akwatia is a result of the sudden death of the sitting Member of Parliament, Ernest

A major highlight of the walk was the open show of unity among stakeholders and former aspirants in the constituency, who collectively pledged their support for Mr. Asumadu. Party leaders said the gesture was an indication that internal differences had been set aside in pursuit of electoral victory.

In a statement after the walk, the Eastern Regional Executive Committee said the event had “left no doubt in the minds of constituents and observers” that Akwatia firmly supports the NPP and its candidate.

“With unity, determination, and unwavering grassroots support, victory for the NPP is assured,” the statement signed by the Regional Communication Officer, Evans Osei Yeboah, read.
