The Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Attah has toured Greater Tamale to assess damage to the road network as a result of heavy rains.

Heavy rains have affected major roads in the Tamale Metropolis and Sagnarigu Municipality, including the Gbewaa High Street/Salaga main road, 2nd Ring Road, the Old Karga road, the Fuo-Taha main road, the Kumbungu main road and the Bolga main road.

The rains also affected some major storm drains such as the Gurugu-Gumani-Fuo and the Gumbihini-Nyanshegu stormwater channels.

Addressing the media after his tour, the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Attah assured the chiefs and people of the Northern Region that โ€œall affected roads will be reconstructed.โ€

โ€œGovernment is pleased that no life was lost as a result of the floods. No matter the extent of the destruction, the government will do whatever it takes to resolve it,โ€ he stressed.

The Minister is leading a high-powered delegation made of engineers from the Department of Urban Roads, Ghana Highway Authority, Department of Feeder Roads and contractors to assess damage to the road network in the Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions as a result of heavy rains and the opening of the Bagre Dam.
