A total of 34,800 registered voters in Kumawu Constituency will head to the polls today, May 23, 2023, to elect a new member of parliament.
Philip Basoah, who has been their Parliamentary candidate since 2020, pass on in March 2023 and was buried on Saturday, May 20.
Representing the New Patriotic Party [NPP], for Tuesday’s elections is Ernest Yaw Anim, who is keen on continuing the party’s legacy in the constituency.
The National Democratic Congress [NDC] candidate, Kwasi Amankwa is also optimistic that his party has the chance of taking over the seat from NPP.
The third and fourth positions are for two independent candidates, both bearing the same name, Kwaku Duah.
In the 2020 elections, the NPP candidate, the late Philip Basoah won convincingly with a total vote of 14,960 whiles Kwaku Duah, an Independent Candidate was second with a total vote of 11,698. The NDC and GUM candidates polled 2,439 and 174 respectively.
