The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has assured Ghanaians that the Mahama-led government will continue all viable and value-for-money projects initiated by previous administrations, in line with the national development agenda.

Speaking at the commissioning of a 160-bed dormitory block and a 24-unit girls’ sanitary facility at Bimbilla Senior High School in the Northern Region on Sunday, November 2, 2025, Mr. Iddrisu said governance must be about continuity and impact, not partisanship.

The newly commissioned facilities, started under the previous government with support from the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), were completed under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration. The event drew excitement from students and staff, who described the development as a major step in easing long-standing accommodation challenges.

Mr. Iddrisu lauded the initiative of the former government and reaffirmed Mahama’s “Resetting Agenda,” which emphasizes the continuation of meaningful national projects.

“President Mahama will continue with any project that adds value to Ghana’s development—especially those that build our human resource capacity,” he stated.

He, however, cautioned that projects found to lack value for money would undergo review. The minister also criticized the abandonment of several GETFund projects in the past, calling it a waste of taxpayers’ money.

“We will not repeat the mistakes of leaving projects to rot. Taxpayers deserve accountability and value for every cedi spent,” he stressed.
