The Ashiedu Keteke Sub-Metropolitan Council of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has awarded 21 employees for their exceptional contributions during the recent Homowo Clean-up Exercise, organised by the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC) under the auspices of the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II.
The 21 were awarded during a ceremony held on Friday at the sub-metro office alongside a food bazaar, highlighting Ghana’s rich culinary heritage.
They are Cynthia Armah, Grace Okadi, Rosemary Lamptey, Naomi Quansah, Sussuana Agyeiwaa, Ibrahim Dodoo, Lomotey Sewu, Francis Okuapeh, Emmanuel Ashley, Osmanu Suleman, Israel Azumah, Francis Brako and Mohammed Lartey.
The rest are Edward Quao, Augustina Akrashi, Nicholas Adjetey Sowah, Amon Kotey, Mohammed Daniel, Daniel Bulley, Ibrahim Tetteh and Johnny Nash.
The Ashiedu Keteke Sub-Metropolitan District Director, Mercy Yaa Odoi expressed her gratitude to the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Elizabeth Sackey for the opportunity to serve under her leadership.
Madam Odoi commended her staff for their efforts and dedication, urging them to continue working hard to enhance the AMA’s image.
She emphasised the need for continued efforts to improve sanitation and eliminate waste in Accra. She said more work had to be done to transform Accra into one of the cleanest places in Africa.
“I can’t do the work alone. We need to work harder at Ashiedu Keteke to ensure zero waste in our communities. I thank the Mayor and the Coordinating Director for allowing me the opportunity to serve.” She stated.
She expressed appreciation to the District Cleansing Officer (DCO) for the good work her husband was extending to the sub-metro adding that 90 per cent of the awardees were from the waste management unit of Ashiedu Keteke Sub-Metro.
Some of the awardees who spoke on the sidelines expressed their joy after receiving the awards, promising to intensify their efforts in the next clean-up campaign.
They described the event as a time of bonding, relaxation, and unity among staff members, calling for more such programs to improve working conditions at the office.
The General Manager for Friendly Mall was present at the event, along with staff from the Ablekuma South Sub-Metro and Okai-koi Sub-Metro, among other important dignitaries.
