The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) on Tuesday February 1 commenced the “Operation Clean Your Frontage” initiative with a decongestion exercise to ride the Central Business District of unauthorized trading on pavements and streets as well as loading vehicles.

The “Operation Clean Your Frontage”, an initiative which is being championed by the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GRCC) under the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Henry Quartey, seeks to make it obligatory for all individuals and corporate entities to be responsible for the cleaning and greening of their immediate surroundings.

The campaign which officially took off after a short ceremony at the Independence Square, to outdoor officials from various local assemblies and security officers from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service and Ghana Immigration Service, to enforce the Sanitation by-laws saw the public being sensitized on modalities and organisation of clean-up exercises in some selected areas, including Kaneshie First Light, to Obetsebi-Lamptey Roundabout, the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Farisco, UTC and Okaishie.
