The Metropolitan Security Council (METSEC) of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has ordered the leadership of Konkomba Yam Market at Agbogbloshie in Accra not to outdoor Nii Ayi Ntebi Kon Biwalti, as Chief of Konkomba within its jurisdiction.
The security council at a press briefing addressed by the Chief Executive of the AMA said a decision was reached at a meeting with the leadership of the Association on Wednesday, 31st August 2022 as part of measures to address the simmering tension following the attempt to outdoor Nii Ayi Ntebi Kon Biwalti as Chief of Konkomba at the Konkomba Yam Market at Agbogbloshie in Accra.
She disclosed that parties to the impasse had appended their signatures to commit to the decisions of METSEC for peace to prevail in the area and would be held liable for any security breach in connection with the intended outdooring.
She also cautioned that any plan to go ahead with the intended outdooring in the AMA’s jurisdiction would be heavily dealt with by METSEC.
She explained that considering the tension in the market the police sought a court order to place an injunction on the process but intelligence gathered indicated that the process was held in Gbawe hence the intended ceremony to outdoor the new chief at Agbogbloshie.
Present at the meeting were members of METSEC.
