The commercial division of the Sekondi High Court presided over by his Lordship Justice Gyan-Kontor has adjourned to Monday, November 11, the case of the NDC application seeking to set aside the injunction which has resulted in the non-recognition of the Amenfi Central Parliamentary Candidate by the Electoral Commission.
The National Democratic Congress filed a fresh writ at the Sekondi High Court following the EC’s refusal to recognise Joana Gyan Cudjoe as the duly elected NDC candidate for Amenfi Central, despite a previous High Court ruling in Sekondi on May 13, 2024, which had ordered that Cudjoe be acknowledged as the legitimate candidate.
On Thursday, November 7 at the Sekondi High Court lawyers for Joana Gyan Cudjoe, NDC parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central, attempted to lift an injunction at Sekondi High Court.
The injunction led to her removal from the Notice of Poll. After a 30-minute recess, the parties failed to agree on lifting the injunction. Justice GyanKontor directed them to resolve the intra-party issue by Sunday.
They will report back on Monday, and if successful, proceed with Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the NDC parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central, who was seen in court on Thursday.
Initially, she appeared disturbed when asked to step out for a discussion. However, upon being given until Sunday to resolve the issue, her demeanour changed to one of relaxation.
Nevertheless, some regional executives from the National Democratic Congress were present to demonstrate solidarity with their party members.
