Raymond Nana Ebbah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Wassa Amenfi East, has supervised the Government of Ghana’s routine road maintenance works on the Nkonyah–Bawdie road and other major roads within the Amenfi East Municipal Assembly, bringing relief to residents after more than eight years of persistent pothole problems.
For over eight years, these potholes have plagued motorists, traders, farmers, and commuters, leading to frequent vehicle breakdowns, road accidents, increased transportation costs, and long travel delays. The poor state of the roads had become a major concern for residents, with repeated appeals for intervention going unanswered—until now.
The current maintenance exercise involves extensive filling of potholes, patching of severely damaged sections, and reshaping of affected road surfaces to restore safe and smooth movement.
The Nkonyah to Bawdie stretch, a vital economic route linking farming communities and market centers, has been prioritized due to its strategic importance to the municipality.
During his on-site inspection, Raymond Nana Ebban engaged engineers, contractors, and highway officials, emphasizing the need for durable and high-quality work to ensure the long-standing road challenges are permanently addressed.
He noted that the intervention demonstrates government’s commitment to responding to the genuine needs of the people, even where problems have existed for many years.
The MCE also interacted with residents and traditional leaders along the corridor, who expressed appreciation for the long-awaited repairs. Many described the intervention as a “relief after eight years of suffering,” acknowledging that the works will improve safety, ease transportation of farm produce, and boost economic activities in the area.
Raymond Nana Ebbah reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing road infrastructure across Amenfi East and assured the public that the Assembly will continue to collaborate with relevant state agencies to ensure sustainable development and improved living conditions for all.
