More than five hundred [500] foreign prostitutes in the Amenfi West Municipality are being chased out of their brothels by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Lord Nana Tandoh with the help of the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC).
The trafficked prostitutes, which include Nigerians and other national residents, must work to pay off the cartel that brought them at a cost of Gh¢10,000.
The operation to smoke them out of their hiding started on Monday 8th August 2022.
According to sources, they pay a minimum of Gh¢800 monthly to be allowed to put up wooden structures for their illegal prostitution business.
Prostitution is a lucrative business in the Amenfi West Municipality due to perennial illegal mining activities which have brought people from all walks of life who patronize these prostitutes.
Asankrangwa, Amoaman, Oda Kotoamso, Samreboi, Aboi Nkwanta, Yirase, Wasa Dunkwa, and other notable towns are the haven for the growing prostitution in Amenfi West.
The move by Municipal Chief Executive to clamp down on the oldest profession is being met with mixed feelings and the Asankrangwa Divisional Police and Immigration Commands have vowed to assist by arresting these prostitutes.
